EMERGENCY SURGERY FOR SOPHIE

Sophie had emergency surgery on November 30. She had been experiencing several UTI’s over the last few months. On the Friday after Thanksgiving, she started screaming in the middle of the afternoon . I took her to my vet immediately. She thought that she had another UTI. This time the pain and the constant peeing did not stop. I called first thing Monday morning and a new receptionist did not give the message to the vet right away. By the time she returned my second call, it was too late to get her into the office and we were sent to the emergency clinic about 20 miles away. They have safe Covid practices and we were in the parking lot for a long time. By the time she got into the office, they decided that she needed surgery for pyometra. Luckily it was an open uterus,not closed. She would have died if it were closed. Sophie came home the ext night after here middle of the night surgery. She has to keep dry, no activity, and wear a cone. She has been a good patient and will have her stitches out this Monday. Shelby has been a good sister and kept her protected.
