SIDNEY DID NOT HAVE A GOOD DAY

Besides being left home from the dog park visit, Sidney got sick when I got home. The three are separated when they eat. It makes for a more pleasant meal when the two girls are in separate crates and Sidney has the whole dining room. As I was placing the food bowl down for Sidney, I noticed that he was urinating on the floor. Sid has been a perfect gentleman, except at the vet, and I was very worried about his indiscretion. The puddle was a dark yellow color and the very end was bloody. I immediately called the vet. They close early on Saturday and I didn’t want to be stuck with a sick dog and no options. They told me to be there ASAP. It is a 10 minute drive and by the time we got to the vet, he was peeing blood. I thought that they had taken blood from him, but the liquid in the test tube was urine. It was very red. After x-rays to rule out stones and a dip stick for infection, it was decided hat he had a very quick onset urinary tract infection. The vet said that there was a 2 week shot or I could give him pills over the next 14 days. At twice the price, the shot seemed to be a better option. I didn’t have to worry about him spitting up the pill or hiding it. He was have trouble most of the evening and then he seemed to be better. Things have been good today and I’m happy that the little boy is doing better. 005
The people in the pictures yesterday were the Swift family. Dave is our Councilman and he and his wife have been my friends for a long. Maggie, their dog, is a play mate of Sid and Shelby. She is not fond of Sophie and has not been coming around as much as being the advent of Sophie.

The only margaritas in this house are crystal light or another brand of low calorie stuff to put in bottled water. Mom loves them. She is not a drinker. The shot worked miracles.

When Kaci got this in August, we weren’t given the shot option but had to take the pills. The first pills didn’t work but the second ones apparently did. She wasn’t bad enough because there wasn’t any blood in the pee..

I don’t like seeing my boy suffer. Luckily we live close to the vet and we are one of her first clients when she opened her practice. She is the best and is always willing to help. From the time of his accident to getting home from the vet it was under one and a half hours.

UTIs are just awful! We’re glad to hear you are feeling better Sidney and our mom says she’d have gone for the shot too – easier for both you and your mom.
    Keep getting better buddy!
    BIG licks,
    Wally & Sammy
