Who needs a beach?

Our friend Ranger had a picture of himself at the beach. We wrote that Mom has lived in Florida for 31+ years and has never set foot on the beach. On the other side of the screen is a beautiful swimming pool. Mom has only let us go out there one time. She says that she is afraid that we might fall into the pool. Her first Florida Scottie, Corky, fell in the pool the first day that she arrived at the house and the pool has not been available since that time. Do you think that this is fair? Is she just an overprotective mother? The usual cast of characters-Maggie on her back, Rocky, and Shelby in the foreground. Dixie and Sid in the background.

Yes, that’s very unfair. Every dog that comes here is shown the steps that make it easy to exit the pool. I’m not a problem, any body of water that is larger than my water dish is suspect and I don’t go there. I’ll make an exception for going into the ocean but it must be in Arizona. They would like to know why you don’t enjoy the benefits of living in Florida-the beach and the ocean but don’t take advantage of them. Please don’t tell me that you spend your winters on Greenland 🙂

I haven’t been out of Florida since 2002. I enjoy the pool, but Scotties don’t seem to be interested in getting wet. I also hate the sand. It is especially hot and get stuck in places that are uncomfortable.

Our cousins (the Italian Greyhounds) had never seen a pool before so one day they went with their mom to visit a friend who had a pool and you won’t believe it but both ran straight INTO the pool! It was as if they thought they could walk on water…luckily they could swim and have never done it again!

My first Florida Scottie jumped into the pool the first day she was at the house. The look of fright was unbelievable. She never went near the pool again.
