Scottie Crafts

For those that are craft challenged, here is something that does require any more skill than cutting and pasting. These are Scottie place mats and they were made over 10 years ago and they are still in excellent shape. They are made from the cheapest foam backed place mats, fabric glue, mod podge for fabric, or Laminate It, Scottie fabric(Campbell’s Scottish Terriers) has great stuff, and scissors. Put your glue in the place mats Cut a piece of the fabric that is larger than the place mat andcarefully place the fabric over the place mat and join them together. The glue acts as a sealant. After it dries, cut the fabric carefully around the place mat. Put another layer of glue over the fabric. This will keep the edges from raveling. I covered mine with clear vinyl. This makes it easier to wipe clean, but the newer glues might be just as good.

It is almost that easy. The products are better now than they were ten years ago when I made these. The place mats were horrible and would never have been used until they were covered.

Lee made a placemat for me. But she did not do it that was. It is shaped like a bone and has black dogs and it is quilted and then she used hemming tape around the edge.

That sound really nice. These are place mats for the human table. They can be cleaned with a sponge. Tell Lee to send me a picture of the mat. I love to quilt. I have paper pieced a few Scottie quilts using Scottie fabric.
